|I have been involved in genealogy for several years and like all good genealogists, I am totally addicted to it.Although I have many lines that I have traced, including my wife's, I am dedicating this current page to my grandparents and their ancestors; Sidney Wilson Norris and his wife, Hazel Dell Glimpse. |
Much of this data is a result of the efforts of my Uncle Clifford Norris who spent many years, mostly without computers, in gathering and traveling. He along with my mother, Norma Norris Breen, inspired me to get involved in genealogy.
The Norris family extends back to the Thomas Norris/Ann Hynson marraige in the early 1600's in Maryland. The family is traced through St. Mary's County, MD, Henry County, VA, Cumberland County, KY, and finally Vernon County, MO.
I am convinced that all persons with the name of Glimpse are related. The original was Johann Abraham Glymph from Lunenburg, Germany settling in South Carolina.Three sons disagreed with the slavery issue and moved north changing their name to Glimpse. The name takes several forms, Glymph, Glimpse, Glimps, Glimp, Glimpe, etc. but is all the same family.
For those few genealogists that will find this page, I hope that this data will help in your efforts.I am always willing to freely share any of my data.
My cousin Marilyn wrote a poem that I wanted to share with all.
My family quilt is a nine-patch.
There is a block of courage,
A block of despair,
A block of faith,
A block of devotion,
A block of vitality,
A block of humor,
A block of artistry,
A block of music,
And a block of wisdom.
These blocks are framed
With a border of love.
The researcher pieces it
With his genealogical records
And I see the pattern
Of the great family
We were/are/and shall be!
