We have a lot of assorted James Dosters. However the one that is buried in the Doster Family Cemetery in Jackson County I can give a brief biography of his life. He was a 3rd great Granduncle of mine. Dr. James Joseph Doster was born 31 Aug. 1797 anddied 8 Oct. 1881 in Jackson Co. Ga. He was the son of William Doster II & Elizabeth. Dr.James J. Doster (referred to as Dr. J. J.) married 18 Apr. 1859 in Jackson Co. Ga. to Jane Maxwell-born 1809 and died May 12, 1893. She was buried in Woodbine City Cemetery in downtown Jefferson, Jackson County. Her headstone was inscripted as: Aunt Jane Doster and was buried near her Maxwell Family which is connected to the Elrods. Dr. James Joseph Doster was a botanical Doctor. He resided on Washington Street in Jefferson and had a sign hanging out in front of his house which read: No implements of death here.

Death of Dr. J. J. Doster
This gentleman breathed his last on Sunday night. He had been afflicted with paralysis for several years past to such an extent that he was just alive and that was all. He was well known in this and adjoining Counties as a successful Physician a kind and clever man, who attended to his own affairs and let others alone. He had been a citizen of this place for years. He was buried at the family burying ground in the upper part of the County.
