In 1836 Jackson County was called upon to furnish men for the militia fightin in the Creek Indian uprising.Accordingly 87 mounted men, under the command of Colonel Samuel Burns, left from Jefferson 1 June 1836 for duty at Columbus Ga......28 May 1836

Sir,
In pursuance of your order of the 21st Inst I have this day caused to be paraded the regiment under my command for the purpose of detailing the quota required.A volunteer company of mounted men heretofore existing in the regiment has been completed by volunteers-and the company is now under marching orders and will leave on Wednesday morning (1st June) for Columbus---Enclose is a list of officers commissioned-non commissioned, and privates attached to the Company

Correction: This Thomas was my 3rd Great Grandfather who was the son of William (of York), who came to Jackson Co. Thomas. did serve in the Creek wars. & a Military Veteran Headmarker was erected by me & erected at The Doster cemetery in his honor & memory. All of the lineages of the children listed in the book are all incorrect.

The last Will of Thomas J. Doster knowing that I must shortly put off this mortal in hopes of immortality. I ordain this my last will and testament.
First-
I commend my soul to God and my body to a descent burial. As to earthly goods which are but few I first give to my wife all my property with the discretion to divide to my two children according to her and their circumstances. First she is to have a support from the use of the plantation & mill the use of the house with the privilege of wood & water. also the use of a milch cow & raising fowl. Two. My plantation is to descend to the offspring of my children and not to be sold until fifty years shall have expired or until my youngest grand child comes of age (1) but remain for the use of my children a homestead and further one or more acres shall be set apart around the family grave yard for a burying ground & used for no other purpose but a cemetery.
Henry Clay Doster is to stay on the place keep the plantation & mill in fix for its use take care of his Mother as I did mine (see the fifth commandment in the decalogue) he is to have the use of the tools plantation & carpenter tools. But if Mandy should need some let her have part of them. She is to have 1 bed & furniture also one of Nancys beds & wheel & chest & other things that her circumstances require & permit. My wife will see to this. Thos J Doster
Henry C Doster is to see the will carried out to the spirit & extent of all its requirements to have the farm & mill employed for his support & his mothers and For Mandy C. Doster if circumstances require it. She is to have some interest in the upper part of the farm after paying its keep up in leaving the family she is to have a cow or two & other small stock or their equivalent in something else. Henry C Doster is to be the executor of this will & see that it is carried out in its spirit & intent
