1.WALTER¹ STEWART was born in Perkshire, Scotland.
Notes for WALTER STEWART:
Looking for the ancestory of Jane Stewart b. Abt. 1680 who married John Guthrie in Ireland. Their son John & his wife Ann Guthrie
then went to America in 1730.
Jane is of the Royal House of Stewart and therefore should be a descendant of James Stewart who was the son of Murdoch Stuart,
Duke of Albany & Governor of Scotland, and in 1424 he sought refuge in Ireland. I have some on his descendants through his sons
Walter and Andrew.

In the book "The STEWARTS, John Stewart of Ardvorlich" by W. & A. K. Johnston. It says "The modern belief, founded upon doumentary evidence, is that the Stewarts orginated in Flaald, a Breton Knight, decended from a family which held the office of Seneschal of Dol under the counts of Dol and Dinan in the eleventh century, with which family they were related. This Flaald had a son Alan who was in England before 1101. He had two sons, William, progenitor of the Fitzalans, Earl of Arundel, and Walter
progenitor of the Stewarts.
Walter came to Scotland sometime prior to 1164, and was created Stewart (or Steward) of Scotland by King David I." "The office of High Stewart was hereditary. Walter, 3rd High Stewart, adopted the name of his office as his surname, and thus became the first Stewart from whom all of the name are decended."
There are other books on Mary Queen of Scots.
From one called "Mary Queen of Scotland and the Iskes by Stefan Zweig says Mary married her second husband Henry Darnley by whom she had a son named James. James VI became King. So you see there were no Stewarts in the Royal line anymore.
