Simon Ring a shephard in Germany and Kunigunda Popp were married before 1786. The place is unknown at this time. Their son Andreas Ring was born March 29, 1786 in Caspauer. (Caspauer being, we believe, a part of the Neukenroth-Isling-Weismain parishes). Andreas died at 40 years of age of consumption on March 14, 1827 at Neukenroth. Andreas was to marry Eva Schneider, a weavers daughter, but shortly before the wedding was to take place he died. Eva Schneider had Joannes on Oct 25, 1826 in Neukenroth. Andreas was also a shepard. The Godfather of Joannes was Joannes Parnickel, a barrel makers son. Joannes was baptized into the catholic church on the date of birth.
Ring means son of, so when the family came to the U.S. they said Ringlein which meant son of Ring, the people here didn't understand or maybe they preferred it to be left on, so the family became Ringlein. Joannes, or John, came with his mother in 1845, when he was 19 years old. They landed in Baltimore and immediately came west. They located in Peru township, Huron county, Ohio.
They traveled by stage across Germany and arrived at La Havre, France where they docked for America. They were 35 days on the water.
(There is no record of Kunigunda Popp and Simon Ring's marriage in the church at Isling-Weismain-Neukenroth, so were married elsewhere, possibly East Germany)
(The above information taken from the Catholic Archives in Bamberg, Germany, was sent to Carol McKenzie from Dr. Bruno Deundorfer & Dr. Edmund Karl Farrenfopf Director and Diocen Director of archives at Bamberg, Germany. Dated June 22, 1977)
