Notes for Justin Corser Sutton:
Justin "Jut" was born in his grandmother's home on Quaker rd where his mother had been born.They lived in Medina twp on Packard rd for his early days then moved to a smaller farm on S. Meridian rd.He began working for the Avis Power company (later to become Consumers Power Co) while still in high school in Hudson graduating in 1921.He then matriculated to the University of Michigan.Retaining his employment with Mr Avis he was transferred to LaGrange, Ind. and then to Wolcottville, Ind where his son was born.Ties to Hudson and home were strong and he spent much time in the area until he was again transferred back to Hudson.In 1931 he was transferred to the Jackson meter department remaining until 1938 when he took over the management of the Morenci office.His wife Dora had worked with him for Consumers in Wolcottville and was re-employed by them to manage the Morenci office when Justin was transferred to the Adrian office where he was Farm Agricultural Advisor for many years.One of his jobs was to intoduce and install the farm vapor lights that so many farmers still rely on.
Justin was a member of the First United Congregational church of Morenci where he was an Elder of the church; a Life Member of Lodge #95 F&AM of Morenci; a Past Patron of the Excelsior Chapter #68 O.E.S. at Morenci; a former member of the Morenci School Board of Education; a member of the Kiwanis Club of Morenci and Past Lt. Governor of Division #18 Michigan District of Kiwanis International; a life member of the Devils Lake Yacht Club, a member of the Beaver Island and the Lenawee County Historical Societies; a former member of the Hillsdale County Fair Board and was active for many years in the Lenawee-Monroe County 4-H Clubs.
Justin retired from Consumers with 35 years employment and moved to the family Weed farm on Quaker rd.

SUTTON SUCCEEDS YOUNG AS MANAGER
Wolcottville Young Man Now Superintendent of LaGrangeLight & Power Co. -----
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Sutton of Wollcottville are now in charge of the LaGrange Light & Power company.Mrs. Sutton having charge of the office while Mr. Sutton will have general supervision of the plant and the lines.
L. G. Young, the former manager gave us his post Tuesday and the new management took charge.Mr. Sutton managed the Wolcottville division before coming to LaGrange.
Mr. and Mrs. Sutton are among the county's most esteemed young people and we predict for them success in their new work here.They will reside in the Platt house on West Michigan street.
There is a representative of the Chase company of Gary here this week, who is placing and arranging a complete stock of electrical equipment in the local power office.He states that all the latest supplies of an electrical nature will be kept in stock and that the people of no city will have a better selection from which to choose than will people of LaGrange.
The new company is making every effort to give LaGrange and vicinity the very best power and light service possible.New Equipment will be installed as it is found necessary.The LaGrange News.

Justin Sutton
Justin Sutton, farm advisor of Consumers Power Company has been selected as chairman of the Land Grant College Centennial for Lenawee county.Mr. Sutton was elected at a recent meeting of Lenawee county agricultural leaders.
As county chairman, Mr. Sutton will co-ordinate a number of activities and programs designed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Morrill Act by Abraham Lincoln.The Morrill Act was the first of several bills which established Land Gant Colleges such as Michigan State University, co-operative extension service 4-H club work and vocational agriculture in schools.

GETS SPECIAL AWARD
Justin C. Sutton (right), a farmer server adviser for Consumers Power Company, was presented with a plaque honoring him for his 14 years of service to 4-H clubs in Lenawee county by John Comstock, county extension director, at the 16th annual Lenawee county 4-H Leaders Recognition Banquet at Titchie Hall on the Adrian College campus Wednesday night.Over 240 4=H leaders were honored at the affair.Sutton, a resident of Morenci, was given the special award for his countless hours of voluntary service to 4=H youngsters.His contributions included helping with various demonstrations, judging many contests and exhibits and chaperoning 4-H members on out-state trips. Mr. Justin C. Sutton, age 78 years, of Quaker Road, Hudson, passed away early Sunday morning at Haslett, Mich, where he was spending the winter, after a brief illness.
He was born November 27, 1902, in Hudson, the son of Bert and Vivian (Weed) Sutton.He lived his early life in Hudson where he was a graduate of Hudson High School, Class of 1921.He then attended the University of Michigan.
He married the former Dora Pearl Radak on November 30, 1923 at Tecumseh.She preceded in death November 2, 1972He lived in Hudson until 1932 when he moved to Jackson until 1939.He lived in Morenci from 1939-1968, when he moved back to the Hudson area.
Mr. Sutton was employed by Consumers Power Co. for 47 years as a District Manager and Farm Service Advisor.
He was a member of the First United Congregational Church of Morenci where he was an Elder of the Church; was a Life Member of Lodge #95, F&AM of Morenci; was a Past Patron of the Excelsior Chapter #68, OES at Morenci; a former member of the Morenci Schools Board of Education; a member of the Kiwanis Club of Morenci and Past Lt. Surviving are one son, Justin (Jack) Sutton of Haslett, one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Virginia) Bunka of Okemos; 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and by one brother, Albert.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson with the Rev. Alan Hanson officiating.Interment was made in Maple Grove Cemetery, Hudson.
Masonic memorial services in charge of Lodge 95, F&AM of Morenci were conducted at the funeral service.
