In the name of God Amen. I HENRY CAMPBELL of the county of Amherst being very sick and weak but
of perfect Senses in mind and memory thanks be unto God calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say first of all I give and recommend my Sole into the hands of Almighty God who gave it to me and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried at the direction of my Executor in a Christian like manner not doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estates wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give and dispose of in manner and form as followith.ITEM: first it is my desire all my Just debts shall be paid.
ITEM: I give unto my beloved wife CHARITY CAMPBELL the plantation whereon I now live and all my Stocks of Horses, Hogs, Sheep and h ? (Except as to one two year old heffer) to have and enjoy the same and using her life time or widowhood with all my household furnishings likewise and at her death or marriage the whole of all the said Stocks, horses, cattle, sheep, hogs and household furniture to be sold and the money arising from the said sale to be equally divided among all my children except my Son John.
ITEM: i give my son John one Shilling Sterling. (12 pennies)
ITEM: I give my well beloved Son AMBROSE CAMPBELL one hundred acres of land adjoining the Glebe being the same whereon I now live to him and his heirs forever.
ITEM: I give to my beloved Son AARON CAMPBELL one hundred acres of land joining Ambrose Campbell to him and his heirs forever.
ITEM: I give to my beloved Son JOELL CAMPBELL one hundred acres of land being the same whereon I now live at the Decease or marriage of my beloved wife Charity Campbell to him and his heirs forever.
ITEM: i give to my beloved Grandson HENRY CASHWELL one two year old heffer and lastly do appoint as Executors to this my last Will and Testament (Revoking all others) my well beloved Wife Charity Campbell, Lawrence Campbell and Aaron Campbell.In Witness whereof I have ? unto 1st my hand and Seal this tenth Day of March one thousand Seven hundred and Seventy two.

(page 236) Know all men by these present that we Charity Campbell, Lawrence Campbell, Joseph Cabell and James Higgenbothan are held and firmly bound unto Daniel James, Roderick McCullock and George Stovall, June James, Nevel and Ambrose Rucker, Gent Justices of the County of Amherst now siting in the Sum of five hundred pounds current money To the payment whereof well and truly to be made to the said Justices and then Successors we bind ourselves and each of us one and Each of our Heirs Executors and Administrators Jointly and Severally firmly by their presents Sealed within. Seals this Seventh day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Seventy two and in the thirteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third.
