| PAGE LAST UPDATED:12/4/1997 Let me start out by introducing myself.My name is James Cockrell.My friends call be Pat because of my birthdate, March 17th.Since the death of my father, I have become interested in gathering as much family history as possible.I have compiled a list of over 7,000 names attached in some way to my family tree.However, only a handful of those names are from the Cockrell branch.Right now I am concentrating my efforts with the Cockrell line since that is where I am hurting the most for information.The oldest Cockrell that I am stuck with lack of information is my Greatgrandfather, Alexander Grace Cockrell.My family bible says he was born March 2, 1836 in Murphresborough, Hertford Co.., NC.He married Sarah Calidonia (Callie) Kone on January 23, 1868 in West Point, MS.She was also from NC.Alexander died April 16, 1897.He is buried in Houston, Texas. The states that I have records where the people on the Cockrell branch of my tree have been or lived:Maryland; North Carolina; South Carolina; Alabama; Mississippi; Louisiana; Texas; Oklahoma territory; & the Oregon territory during the Indian Wars. Any information would be appreciated.I am also willing to share the information I have.However because I am swamped with inquires about lost relatives not actually attached to my family tree, I may be a little slow in answering.Please go to the "Report Section" below.I have over 6,700 names listed in the "Name List Report" of people that are attached to my tree.I still have over 400 names to be added if I can ever find the time to do so.Please check the names on this list against your own list.You may also maneuver through my entire "Interne Tree".Using your right mouse button, and a with a little practice, you can access various branches of the tree and information about these people.Older computers may have a problem downloading some of these reports because they are rather large.If you have a problem please write and I will check for you and send you the info you are seeking.
