His occupation was given as a blacksmith.He was in Mifflinburg, Union County, Pa. in the early 1790s. Sometime before 1810 he along with his wife and family (minus his eldest son John), migrated to Pickaway, Ohio.Johannes moved to Hocking County, OH in 1824 and died about 1828.
The original homestead in Pick away County, OH is still standing as part of the Earnhart-Hill Water Co. John bought land from the Virginia Military district in Chillicothe, OH.The land was in Hocking/Vinton County and cost $2.00 per acre.
Johannes and wife Anna lived in the town of Marstadt Germany near Worms.Their four sons came to this country in the 1700's.Their son Christopher returned to Germany.Henry went to Ohio and Jacob stayed in Pennsylvania.Johannes Philip came to North Carolina.
Ehrenhardt was changed to Aaronhardt and latter to Earnhardt.Ehren means honor or respect.The Earnhardt's were Blacksmiths, cabinet makers, farmers, or worked with their hands.They were God fearing people.Most of them were Lutherans, and the women were good cooks.The men married good cooks, and they stayed at home and raised large families.
