Last will and Testament of Mary Townsend
In the name of the benevolent Father of all.
I, Mary Townsend of Blackford County and State of Indiana being of lawful age and sound mind and in view of the uncertainty of life, do hereby make and publish this my last will and testament.
Item 1st. I hereby give and bequeath to my two daughters (equally divided) Elizzabeth Leffler and Mary Foy all my household goods and furniture of which may be possessed at my death.
Item 2nd I hereby give and bequeath to my two sons Ja. S. Townsend and Alvah Townsend all my other personal property of which I may be possessed at my death. To be equally divided between them.
Item 3d I hereby constitute and appoint my beloved son James S. Townsend my executor of this my last will and testament.
In witness of I hereunto subscribe my name in the presence of witnesses this 7th day Dec. A.D. 1870

Before me R.G. Stern Clerk of the Blackford Court of Common Pleas personally came Geo. W. Gillispie one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing last will and testament of Mary Townsend late of Blackford Co. Indiana deceased and being duly sworn in says that he was present at the execution of said last will. He swears that at the time of the execution thereof said testatrix was of full age to divide her property of sound mind and memory and not under any coercion or restraint that said testatrix requested him to sign said will as witness unto which he accordingly did of said testatrix and in the presence of Ja. Gillispie, subscribing witness thereto.

I, R.G.Stine clerk of the Blackford County Court of Common Pleas, do hereby certify that the above and foregoing last will and testament of Mary Townsend, late of Blackford County, state of Indiana deceased, was this day duly admitted to probate and record, and the proof hereof duly made by Geo. W. Gillispie, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto which said will together with such proof have been duly recorded in record of Will No. A. Page 154 & 155 in this office.
