It looks like Martin died between 1876 and 1880 as Eliza and her 4 children are living with her widowed younger brother, Ithamer C. Owens, and his kids in 1880 (Knox County Census) in Palmyra Township.Martin's last child was born in 1877 so he was certainly still alive in 1876.
John Cougar Mellencamp, a Seymour native and rock and roll recording artist, assisted in the foundation of the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts, located just outside the city limits.
