Born on the 4th of July 1874 at 2:30 A.M. in Auburn, New York. Her father Passed away When she was fifteen years old. one year later she joined the Salvation Army, enrolled by Commissioner Holtz in Minister school in October of 1892, she became a commissioned officer in the Salvation Army on March 10, 1893 just before her 19th birthday. For the next six years she served as an assistant to captain Emma Abramson ( known to the family as Aunt Emma ) in Corps appointments in the Eastern United States. On April 05, 1899 in Tapleyville, Massachussetts she Married a Salvation Army Bandsman named Henry Hamman and moved to Calais, Maine. She had a daughter born to her on March 14, 1900,
Lyda , a second daughter, Muriel Pearl was born November 20, 1904, on September 06, 1906 little Muriel died of Dysentary. On December 12, 1907, a Thursday evening at 7:15 Henry passed away of heart failure.
Lillie was reaccepted into The Salvation Army on March 24, 1909 and made Captain, she was sent to the St. Louis Nursery as Assistant Matron on October 22, 1909. She was sent to the West Coast to Lytton, California, as Assistent Matron when the Western Division of the Salvation Army was formed. She was sent to the Lytton Orphanage.Then on April 10, 1912 she was promoted to Ensign. On June 8,1917 she was made Adjutant.
She took two years off begining March 01, 1919 due to problems with her daughter. Then on January 01, 1921 she became Assistant Matron at Y.W.B.H. in Tacoma, Washington. She became the Commanding Officer at the Booth Childrens Home in El Paso, Texas on July 21, 1921, then back to Tacoma, Washington in 1922 as Commanding Officer at the Young Womens Boarding House... unwed mothers... . In 1923 she went back to the childrens home in El Paso. Promoted to Commandant January 01, 1925
She was then sent to Boise, Idaho at the end of 1925 as Matron.
June 11,1927 She the took some time off to be with her daughter in California, who was about to give birth to her fourth child, the child was born October 11, 1927 and of October 18, 1927 Lillie transfered to the Los Angeles Nursery as assistant Matron, so as to be near her daughter Lyda.
She moved over to the Los Angeles Evangiline as Assistant Matron Febuary 16, 1928. Promoted to Field Major on 12/24/28. She was then sent to the Los Angeles Home and Hospital as the Assistant Superintendant that was September 26, 1929
On the 16th of November 1931she was promoted to Major she received the Long Service Award on March 24, 1934 and retired on her birth day that same year4th of July.
