Notes for Samuel Fellows:
Samuel was a Sadler by trade. He is believed to have moved from Ipswich, MA to Hampton, NH before 1689 for he joined the church of Hampton in 1689. He granted administration of his estate to his wife Debora Fellows in Sep 2, 1707.
Note; Frank T. Waters and Dick Pence has Samuel's wife as Sarah Fuller m. Jan 5, 1731, one daughter. Audrey Kinezian lists 6 children all born in Hampton, NH shown here and shows his son, Samuel Fellows Jr born Oct 03, 1707 then marrying Sarah Fuller. Samuel Sr's father's bible shows no marriage or children for him.

Deborah was named the administratix against the estate of her husband Samuel in Sep 5, 1708; "to bring up six children, one year, one eight year old called Isaac, John six years old, Hannah 5 years, Isaiah 4 years old, Rach 2 years old and Samuel born 2 months after father's decease." She remarried Benjiman Shaw after Samuels death.

John went to Ipswich also to work for John Harris and Joseph Abby, a blacksmith. No children. John settled in Kingston, NH. NH probate records indicate that John Fellows brother of Isaac died in 1723. |

Ephraim moved his family from Ipswich, MA to Stonington, CT around 1706. He died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head in a hunting accident.

Notes for Jonathan Fellows:
Jonathan succeeded to his father Isaac's farm and retained it from 1705 to 1742. Jonathan had four wives. He is referred to in records as "Sergeant" and as "Deacon".He was a Deacon of the First Church in Ipswich. In 1742 he sold all his Ipswich property and moved with his family to Kensington, NH where he died in 1753. In his will he passes property on to his children, "Where as I have a tract of land which I have not disposed of lying in the province of Maine, commonly known as Cock's Hill, I do hereby bequeath it to all my children, son's and daughter's equally to have shares and rights there in." The will was dated Feb 3, 1752 and proved in Portsmouth, ME. Note: Cock's Hill was near Buxton, ME and known as Coxhall after 1780. In 1803 it was called Lyman, ME. It was the land promised by the government to Jonathans father Isaac for his service in the French and Indian War.

"Third day of February..give and bequeath to my wife, Deborah...all household stuff and goods that she brought when she came to live with me...also stuff she received from the estate of her father, Deacon Bachelder...give and bequeath to my son, Jonathan, all my right, estate and intrest in lands or buildings in Narraganset Township No 1 on Saco River, Providence of maine....give and bequeath to my son Abner, one half my right, estate and intrest in Narraganset Township called Souhgan West in the province of New Hampshire....give and bequeath to my son Jeremiah the other one half of lot given to Abner....give to my daughter, Hannah Ingalls, 15 pounds...to my daughter, Elizabeth Perkins, 30 pounds....to my daughter, Sarah Knowlton, 10 pounds...to my daughter, Mary Smith, 10 pounds...to my son Isaac, all my homestead in Kensington with all buildings except the house Jeremiah built which he is to take offand dispose of...also to Isaac all stock and tools.... My wearing apparel, I give to sons Abner and Jeremiah equally...and my son, Isaac is to pay all my debts and funeral charges...and a tract in the province of Maine commonly known by the name of Cocks Hall, I do give to and among all my sons and daughters equally;...and appoint my son Isaac Fellowes sole executor."

The 1790 New Hampshire Census shows a Mary Fellows living in Rockingham Co, New Hampshire. Household information shows 2 free white females (Roll no 1, page no 81). Researchers note: George Marshall Fellows research shows Nathan Smith (m: Jan 24, 1740) as Mary Fellows' only husband. There is a discrepancy between the Isaac Fellows Bible, which lists his daughter Mary's birth date as Nov 28, 1722 and Candlewood by Waters that lists her baptism in Ipswich, MA as Jul 22, 1722. |
