He was paid 120 pounds for his loss. Researchers note: This may have been Joseph above as his brother,Elnathan was also a captain who was moving refugees from the New York area about the same time. Isaac helped build the Hempstead house which is now a historical landmark of New London. Joshua kept a meticulous diary for over 47 years in which he details daily events in New London. DAR records claim he was the Isaac Fellowsfrom Bolton, CT, who mustered for the Alarm at Lexington.
Researchers note:
This claim for Isaac Fellows (1719-1806) of Stonington, CT to have been the man from Bolton who mustered for the Alarm is suspect. Stonington is 40 miles south of Bolton and in county of New London. Isaac Fellows (1731-1776) lived in Tolland, CT., Tolland Co., just 6 miles north of Bolton, CT., Tolland Co. at age 14 in 1775 then moved to Woodstock, CT before 1759, a distance of 25 miles from Bolton. the proximity works in the favor of the second Isaac as does his age. The first Isaac would have been 56 years old at the muster in Lexington. The second Isaac would have been 44 years old. Additionally, the family story related by Isaac Fellows' (1731-1776) son Adolphus to his own grandchildren, about taking his father Isaac and brother to the Lexington muster helps substantiate the case for him being the man who mustered from Bolton.
