Notes for John Fore:
Campbell County Records:
1/16/1796 - Buys 384 acres from Joseph Akin for 150 pounds specie."lying on the waters of Little Falling River"Boundy crosses the Dutchman Branch.
2/11/1799 John Fore buys 200 acres from William Black for 100 pounds. This land is described as being on Beaver Pond Branch, a fork of Falling River. This land may have been contiguous to the 333 acres on Steeles Fork and Marrowbone creeks that was farmed by his grandson Milton L Fore. The county line between Campbell County and Appomattox County(formed in 1845 from parts of 3 other counties) runs between and parallel to Beaver Pond Branch And Steeles Fork Creek. These streams come together to the South to form Falling River. The 333 acres stayed in the Fore family until after World War II.A family named Cordell bought 230 acres of it in 1945 including the old home, part of which is constructed of "very large logs" according to the Cordells. The home is almost encircled by very large oak trees which I measured in order to calculate their approximate age which turned out to be 260 years and would date them from about 1733.The trees were between 13 and 14 feet in circumference.
1804- According to Flora Fore Richardson's compilation The The Huguenot Family Of Faure And Allied Families, there is a land patent in Campbell County to John Fore for 446.5 acres on Rattlesnake Creek and Beaver Pond Creek and another 127.5 acres on Beaver Pond Creek. It appears that this land is contiguous to the earlier purchases. The total acreage owned by John Fore at this point was at least 1,158 acres.
4/5/1805 - John & Sarah Fore sell 384 acres to William Harvey for 260 pounds.
6/12/1812- John & Sarah Fore sold 456.5 acres to William Harvey for $223.Adjoining properties were Harvey, Duglap, Tanner.
