Notes for TILMAN FOSTER:
There are several spellings found for Tilman's name: Tiglman, Tilghman, Tillman, and Tilmon. His signature appears to be Tilmon.
In 1830, Tilman and family lived next door to his father, William, Sr. in Rowan/Davie County, NC. They had a young female servant. With them were 3 daughters and 1 son under the age of 5. The 1840 census lists only 2 daughters born before 1830. A son and a daughter probably died before 1840. In 1850, he is listed as a farmer. He is buried in Row 8, #3, Fork Baptist Church cemetery.

After Tilman died in 1854, Frances Foster married John Banks April 17, 1856.
The 1860 census lists Frances, 48,living with John Banks, 53.
In 1870, they were living Jerusalem Township. Shortly after, John and Fannie Banks moved to Gibson County, TN where John bought land.
