In a book, Frykman, Hultman & Skoog, by Lund Olson and Strom,
are these words:
Oct 20, 1842. The Pastor of the parish scribbled the following entry
in his register: "Born this day, to L. Larson and his wife Kerstin, a son."
A few days later the boy was baptized and received the name Nils.
In his second year at the State Teachers'College, in Karlstad, Nils Larsson registered the surname Frykman...evidently from "Fryksdalen"
where he was born. Nils graduated in 1868 from the Teachers' College.
In an Article from a newsclipping, "Covenant Unit Moves Relics to College"
Paintings, letters, and furniture portraying a part of the history
of the Evangelical Covenant Church of America are receiving new attention as they are being classified and placed for display in the seminary buildingof North Park college. The article went on to mention ..
Among the objects placed in the college exhibit room
are a rocker and a pulpit, belongings of the great-grandfathers
of June Jacobson, a college sophomore from Rockford.
The rocker once sat on the veranda of the parsonage which was
the home of the Rev. Nils Frykman, a frontier Pastor in Minnesota.
The Rev. Nils Frykman became known as composer of hymns
such as "I Sing With Joy and Gladness."
The Rev Nils Frykman was an Evangelical Covenant Church Minister.

In an Article by Glen V. Wiberg called the Sightings in Christian Music,
he tells of the translations and meanings that were Inspired
by the much-loved hymn with text and music by Nils Frykman,
and translated by E. Gustav Johnson. Another Hymn,
"How Great the Joy" Hymn 552, was translated by
Aaron Markuson and Wiberg. This Hymn refers to the first miracle
of Jesus at Cana of Galilee when he turned the water into wine.
Another Hymn is "The Highest Joy That Can Be Known" Hymn 533
In other notes there is another Hymn Titled, "I Have a Future All Sublime"

Nils Frykman arrived in Chicago on April 5, 1888, and preached
his first sermonin America the following Sunday.
Rev Skogsbergh had come from Minneapolis to welcome his successor,
and both men preached that day.
Of the over 300 Hymns that were written by Rev Nils Frykman,
many were listed in different Hymnals. When Nils frykman was ready
to leave Chicago, Mr. Skogsbergh, recommended him to the Salem
circuit in Kandiyohi county of Minnesota.
Salem was the oldest and largest of five churches .
The parsonage was in Salem, and here Rev Frykman lived for 18 years.
He arrived Dec 20, 1889 with his wife Hilma and nine children,
Hilma and Gustaf, born in Norrkoping, Andrew, Oscar, Carl, Axel,
Anna and Otto born in Sunne; Paul, born in Chicago;
Victor born in Salem MN
