Valentine, known as the third, first appears in Wythe County in the 1810 census record with three male children under ten years, and he and his wife both between 16 and 26 years of age, He purchased his first land in 1814, from Frederick Worley and wife Sally Fry Worley (married 1797), of Hawkins County, Tennessee, who inherited the land from his father Michael Worley. This tract of 180 acres was on Francis or Garner's Mill Creek.

Israel Estwood [sic] will
In the name of God amen. I Israel Eastwood of the County of Granville & State of North Carolina being sick and weak but in perfect mind and memory do make and allow this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say first of all I give and commend my soul into the hands of almighty God who first gave it me, and my Body to be buried at the discression [sic] of my Executors—
Item I lend to my lawful & well beloved Wife, Mary Eastwood the Plantation on the side of the Creek that Dwelling House is on, and the use of the Land ajoining that I intend for my son Lewis Eastward [sic] with all the stock and Household furniture and working tools, except two Cows Calves, two featherbeads and furniture. And twenty pounds in Money to be raised out of the movable estate after that Mary Eastwood and Keziah Eastwood has the said Cows and Calves from the rest of my stock and the two Beads and furniture and the Twenty pounds in Money Raised for my two Daughters, Mary and Keziah Eastwood. The rest of my movable estate I lend to my above mentioned Wife with the said Plantation during her widowhood. Item I give and bequeath to my son Israel Eastwood my House Bible. Item I give and bequeath to Lydia Eastwood one Shilling. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Rebekah Eastwood one shilling. Item I give and bequeath to my son John Estwood [sic] one shilling. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Eastwood one shilling. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Eastwood one Cow and Calf, one feather Bead and ten pounds in money as afore mentioned to be delivered by my Executor as quick as possible after my Will is proved. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Keziah Eastwood one Cow & Calf one feather Bead and furniture and ten pounds in money as afore mentioned, to be delivered by my Executors as soon as possible after my Will is proved—Item I give and bequeath to my son Abraham Eastwood one Tract of Land adjoining the Land of Simon Clement & Isack Kittrel & John Eastwood, thence down the Creek from John Eastwoods Line to the sd. Clements Line one hundred & fifty acres be the same more or less. Item I give and bequeath to my son Charles Eastwood all my Lands lying up the Creek above John Eastwoods line likewise a small piece of Land lying down the said Creek below that part of my Plantation that my Dwelling House is on bounded by Clements line on one side the sd. Creek, on the other side and next to my Plantation up a small Branch the aforesd is the Boundaries. Item I give and bequeath to my son Lewis Eastwood the aforesaid Tract of Land that I lent to my aforesaid Wife the sd. Land I give to my sd. Son Eastwood at his Mothers death or Marriage. Item my Smiths [tools?] I have on the Plantation for the use of my sons namely, John Eastwood, Abraham Eastwood, Charles Eastwood and Lewis Eastwood, and if [?] of the said Brothers sell and move away the said Smiths [tools] are still to remain on the Plantation for the use of them that stay behind and if all my sons sell their Lands and move, the said Smiths tools to be sold and equally divided between my four sons namely John Eastwood, Abraham Eastwood, Charles Eastwood and Lewis Eastwood, also at the Death or Marriage of my Wife, Mary Eastwood all the movable Estate that is left the Smiths Tools excepted is to be sold and equally divided between my five Daughters namely Lydia Eastwood, Rebekah Eastwood, Elizabeth Eastwood, Mary Eastwood and Keziah Eastwood, also the Monies due on Joseph Walls and all other persons & that they owe me after paying my just Debts and what is not spent for the support of my Widow in reasonable support I desire to be equally dis[tributed?] amongs [sic] all my Children, and if either of my sons or my Daughters should die under age their part of my Estate to be sold & equally divided amongs the surviving sisters. This I acknowledge to be my last Will and Testament made this fourth Day of March one thousand seven hundred and ninety three—I[n] witness hearof I have set my hand seal
