James Chapman (b. 11 February 1920, d. November 1971)
Notes for James Chapman:
He was making a film in Africa. There had been a pet lion which had the freedom
of the camp, and usually liked sleeping on one of the camp beds. James fell
asleep on the bed the lion happened to choose for that night and lay down on
top of him. In his fright James shouted and frightened the lion which attacked
him and killed him. The lion then was later shot.
there is a newspaper cutting. The film being made was on Brits Airfield. Called "The Lion's Share".
James was the sound engineer for Janus Films and lived in Bryanston, Johannesburg.
