BELLs of the Isle of Man

The Isle of Man - as a young girl hearing my mother speak of the place she was born, brought to my mind an exotic and wonderously fascinating country.I have since had the opportunity to visit the Isle on two separate occasions; both times not wanting to leave.It is indeed a wonderous and fascinating place and I am proud to be a descendant of the Manx people.

  My 3rd great grandfather, Simon BELL was born in Scotland, the son of William and his wife Mary Torrance.Simon travelled to the Isle of Man probably looking for employment. He then met and married Jane Clague in 1813 in Lezayre and this is the beginning of my Manx BELL line.Several generations lived and died there until my mother and her sister left for Canada in 1910.
