Frederick A. Wenger, 86, widely know Port Clintonite and Ottawa county deputy sealer of weights and measures, died Wednesday afternoon at Magruder Hospital where he had been taken the preceding day.Mr. Wenger suffered a heart attached Feb. 15 at his home.
A lifelong resident of Ottawa County, he was born here June 6, 1860.Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 P.M. from the Gerner and Wolf funeral home with the Rev. John Braun of St. John's Lutheran church officiating.Burial will be made in Lakeview cemetery.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Inez Bredbeck; one son, George S. Wenger, both of Port Clinton, three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Additional notes:He held the honor of being Ohio's oldest sealer of weights and measures.He was also Sheriff of Ottawa County in his younger years.

Frederick A. Wenger, Washington Street, who held the honor of being Ohio's oldest sealer of weights and measures both in years of service and age, passed away Wednesday afternoon in Magruder hospital, ten days after having suffered a heart attach.He had been hospitalized only since the previous day.
Mr. Wenger had served as the Ottawa county sealer of weights and measure for the past 33 years.He had also served this county as sheriff in his younger years.
Born June 6, 1860, in Ottawa county, Mr. Wenger was a member of a local pioneer family.He was 86 years, 8 months, and 20 days of age.His wife passed away 10 years ago.He was a member of the IOOF Lodge and other fraternal organizations.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Inez Bredbeck, at home; one son, George Wenger, Port Clinton, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock in the Gerner & Wolf Funeral Home, the Rev. John Braun, pastor of St. John Lutheran church, officiating.Burial will be in Lakeview cemetery, Gerner & Wolf direction interment.County officials will serve as pallbearers, and IOOF members will assisted in services at the grave.[The Wenger Family File.FBC.FTW]
