Glibbery Family Tree - London & EssexUpdated October 19, 2010
I am researching the Glibbery family in England and connections to USA and Canada. The first reference foundappears in the Anglican Library - Marprelate Tracts: http://www.anglicanlibrary.org/marprelate/tract4m.htm and futher references have been found for early 17 th Century and thereafter to date.I have found extensive references for the East London lineage, allowing preparation of the family tree for James Glibbery (1761 to 1830)and Elizabeth Brock to my family. I am concentrating on this lineage and attempting to forge a link with the significant Essex records of 1760 and earlier to 1560. These records have been found for Hawksteade (Halstead), Saffron Walden, Bocking and Chelmsford: the latter is referred to in letters to Lord Cecil regarding the death of William Glibbery in Jail and the "lewde" activities of John Glibbery in besmirtching the name of his lieutenants.
The attached C16th Family Tree of Elizabeth/William Glibbery shows the original origins in Essex and further research is under-way to establish the Saxon origins.
Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
