Researching the following surnames: BONJA who immigrated from Germany in 1883. BONEA American spelling of BONJA. Some of Johann Bonja's sons changed the spelling of BONJA to BONEA and some chose to leave the spelling as it was. I have indicated in Report which ones changed and which ones kept original spelling. The honor of Oldest Living Gross Schamer goes to Theresa (Karwandy) Besch. Pictured here at age 101 in 2004 at her Chicago home. As of this writing, April 12, 2005, Theresa mind is sharp and she continues to take care of her self, maintaining an independent lifestyle with her son, Tony. Theresa will celebrate her 102nd birthday on June 15, 2005.
