|John Hegarty and his sister Bridget came to Logan Township,Perth County Ontario from Ireland in 1848. In 1852 his father John, mother Abigail(O'Keeffe), brothers Con, Michael, Timothy, Daniel, sister Ellen,and her husband William Uniac joined them.|
John who changed spelling of his last name to Hagarty farmed in Logan Township. Bridget who married Timothy Regan farmed in Logan as did William and Ellen Uniac. Timothy Hagarty built a hotel at Bornholm Ontario, Daniel became a medical doctor in Manitoba, Con went to New York, and Michael(Heggarty) joined his brother Peter (Haggerty) in Richmond Virginia.

The family homestead near Conna,County Cork, Ireland was found in 1994. Several Hagarty and Regan relatives visited there in 1998. Another reunion of over 100 Hagarty,Regan,Uniac descendents was held in Conna Ireland August 18-20, 2002.
A book written by Jim Hagarty called "HOME AGAIN An Emigrant Family Returns to Ireland" is available.It is hardcover and has 380 pages. It tells the stories of the family history and also lists the descendent family trees to the 7th generation. Cost in Canada $50 +$5postage(Can$. John married Mary Nagle. They had 4 children.They farmed in Logan Township, near Bornholm, in Perth County. He was a pioneer, who cleared the land and built a log home and barn. His son John 3 and his son, John 4 farmed all their lives in Logan. They are buried in St. Vincent de Paul cemetery, Mitchell.

He married Anne Foley. They had 7 children. After emigrating from Ireland to Ontario, Michael moved in his early 20's to Virginia USA. At some point he changed the spelling of his name.He is buried in Mount Calvary cemetery, Richmond Virginia.He was a contractor, who died of construction accident when he was 45.

He married Mary Bridget Ryan and they had 9 children.He built the first log Hotel in Bornholm and was the first post master there.Later he moved to Stratford and owned and operated a hotel.He is buried in Avondale cemetery, in Stratford, Ont.
