Col Donald Allen Harp entered the Army in January, 1944 and after amphibious and jungle warfare training, he served in combat in the Philippines and Okinawa.Following World War II, he joined the Missouri National Guard in 1949 and began serving full time.He retired from military service on Dec 31, 1980 after 34 years of service.At the time of his retirement, he was serving as the civilian personnel officer.Military awards and decorations included the Bronze star with "V" for Valor and Oak Leaf Cluster for second award; Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge and the Missouri Meritorious Service Medal.
Placed in the Mausoleum of Hawthorn Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City, MO.This was a full military honors burial with the Rev. G. Nelson Duke of the First Baptist Church presiding and under the auspices of the Missouri National Guard.
