| Welcome to our family site. Both of my mother and father's parents were Hungarian, so I have been very busy with my Hungarian heritage, which has led me to many unexpected places. My maternal grandparents are Balint (aka Walter) Galgoczi, son to Stephan and Rosalia (Horvath) Galgoczi and Rosa (aka Roza, Rosalia) Fejes, daughter to Janus/Janus and Rosa Duakasz (sp.) Fejes from Gyor-Moson-Sopron, Hungary from the settlements of Koronco and Sopron. Grandpa Galgoczi also had a brother, Andras (Andrew) who came to the US. In the US, the Galgoczi families settled in East Chicago, Lake County, Indiana; Rosebush/Mt. Pleasant, Isabella County, Michigan; and parts of Ohio. The Galgoczi children in the US married into the Salchert, Szabo, Benko, Oplinger-Graham, Ball, Horvath, and McDonald family lines. I am researching the Voros/Woros surname, in particular, Elizabeth (Horvath) Voros who married Nicholaus Woros and her brother, Andy (Andras/Andrew) Horvath who married Teresa Schreiner; both marriages occurred in South Bend, Indiana.Andrew (Andy) Horvath and his sister, Elizabeth (Horvath) Woros are aunt and uncle to my grandfather, Walter (Balint) Galgoczi.Andrew Horvath married more than once. I am researching Imre (Emery) and Anna (Racz) Kertai, from South Bend, IN, and Raba Patona, Gyor County, Hungary.Anna Racz married Imre (Emery) Kertai, son to Andras Kertai and Terezia Roka.Anna is daughter to Istvan Racz and Marie Kaloczi (with a “K”).Anna (Racz) Kertai is related to my maternal grandmother, Roza Fejes.. My paternal grandparents, János (John/Ivan) Benkö and Anna Farkas Szabo-Benko. Grandma Anna's brothers are Stefan and Alexander Farkas. Anna is daughter to Alexander Farkas and Anna Mache (spelling uncertain). The Farkas-Benko families at one time were documented as being from Daruvar, Pozsega, Croatia (formerly Yugoslavia and Austrio-Hungary) and from Sophia and Vidin, Bulgaria. In a ship manifesto, grandmother Anna listed her place of birth as Blagorodovac, Pozsega County,Hungary (Slavonia). In the U.S., the migration pattern has been traced from Conway, Pennsylvania; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and South Bend, Indiana. I am researching my grandmother’s brothers.Anna’s brother, Alexander Farkas married Rozália Gócza, daughter to János Gócza and Katalin Lóczi. On a ship manifesto, Rozália was going to join her husband, Alexander and stated she was born in Blagorodovac, Pozsega County, Hungary (Slavonia).Rozália Gócza’s baby sister, Mária Gócza was bornApril 17, 1896 in Dezenovac, Hungary and married Lazos Vörös; Mária died November 23, 1984 in Szava, Baranya County, Hungary. My father’s sister, Julia Anna (Julianna) Benko stated on her ship manifesto she was from Duraver, Hungary.Aunt Julia married Michael John Tschida in South Bend, IN; Michael John is son to John P. Tschida and Anna Elizabeth LuttmanThe Tschida line can be traced to John S. Tschida and Elizabeth Schwarzbauer from Pamhagen, Burgenland, Austria. | The Galgoczi-Fejes and Farkas-Benko Descendents Updated February 4, 2004 |
