I have a court document that states the names of Conrad and
Elizabeth Hafley's children as he named them in his will.
He died in 1806.The document is very, very, very long but
I will quote a few sentences that state the names of his
children. ........"Your Orator James Johnston & Anna his
wife (formerly Anna Hafley) citizens of the county of
Blount & State of Tennessee, would respecfully represent
unto your Honor that about the year 1806 one Coonrod Hafley
who was also a citizen of the county of state aforesaid
departed this life having made before his death his last
will & testament in which among other things he directed
that his wife Elizabeth Hafley should have her living on
his farm during her widowhood for herself & for the purpose
of raising his childrenall of which will more fully
appears from a copy of said will herewith filed marked
(exhibit A) & prayed to be taken as part of this Bill, at
the time of the deat of said Testator he left the following
children his heirs & legatees to wit.Elizabeth Mary Caty
(I would think that this would be Catherine) Jean (I find
it listed as Jane in some places) John Coonrod David Sarah
Margaret Susannah Barbary (probably Barbara) Fanny & Anna
(who is the wife of complainant). All having an equal
interest in said land upon the death of said Testators wife
Elizabeth who as before stated had an estate in said land
during her widowhood, some time in the year 1847 the widow
of said Testator departed this life having remained in
widowhood & resided on said farm from the death of said
Testator until the time of her death............etc.
I am not saying that Frankfort is positively not a child
of Conrad but I don't know why he would not have been
listed as a child. There are just some conflicting
information that I have. They may have better information
than I do.
Also I have one document that says,"Two Hafley brothers,
came to America, from Frankfort, Germany, namely Frankfort
Hafley Sr. and Conrad Hafley. They settled in Maryville,
Tennessee, by a large spring.Frankfort Hafley Sr. was
born in "Frankfort-on-the-Main" in Germany.Conrad Hafley,
was the father of Frankfort Washington Hafley 2nd.He
named his son for the Capital of Germany, and for
Washington, USA."(I wonder if the name Conrad could
have been a typo error.I wonder if this should have been
that Frankfort the 2nd was the son of Frankfort and not
Conrad?Of course I do not know for sure but it just seems
strange to me since the sentence above says that Frankfort
Hafley SR. was Conrads brother. He is listed as a Sr. and
then the other one is listed as the 2nd.What do you
think? It really does not affect any of our direct lines.
