Notes for PETER W. HELEBRANT:
Obituary of Peter W. Helebrant, Austin Daily Herald, Austin MN
Peter W. Helebrant was born in Bohemia in 1857(sic.) and came to this country with his parents when he was six years old.The family located in Chicago for three years and then came to Mower County settling on a farm near where the C.G.W. railroad crosses the C.M.St.P.&P. line north of the city. After a short time they moved to what was known as the Helebrant farm on the east side of the river at Ramsey Junction.
Peter Helebrant bought this farm from his father and added to the first 120 acres until the farm included 320 acres. This farm was the home place until about 1900, when Peter moved his family to this city. This farm property was still owned by him.
He married, while on the farm, Lily Simpson of this city.To them was born one child, Frank, who operates the grocery store on Moscow Street.Mrs. Helebrant died 20 years ago.Later he married Theresa Wasck of this city.
Besides his son, Frank, he leaves two grandchildren, Bernard J. and Robert J. Helebrant and two great grandchildren, Bernard and Iris, children of Bernard. Two sisters survive him, Mrs. Josephine Vodraska of Garfield Street and Mrs. Anna Levy of Grant Street.A sister and brother died some years ago.
Peter Helebrant's life before he failed in strength, and especially when he worked his farm, was that of all early farmers when work had to be done by hand and horses, in the days when farm machinery was scarce compared with the mechanized farming of today.
He was interested in all the doings of his neighborhood and cooperated with his neighbors in farm work and social life.He was somewhat of a musician and played the bass violin in an orchestra at community social events, being a fine caller for the old time square dances.
He remained in good health until some five or six years ago when he failed both physically and mentally.Only the generation that knew him as a hard working and successful farmer and knew of his qualifications, knew the real Peter Helebrant.
He died Friday evening.Funeral services were held at the Jordan Mortuary Sunday; Reverend C.H. Crawford of Christ Episcopal Church officiating.Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.

Notes for LILLIAN SIMPSON:
Obituary of Lillian Simpson Helebrant, Austin Daily Herald, Jan. 17, 1925, Austin MN
Mrs. Peter Helebrant, aged 61, was found dead at her home, 404 Courtland Avenue about 9:30 this morning. The cause of her death was said to be heart failure after a post mortem had been held.
Mrs. Helebrant was apparently in her usual health yesterday and did a good sized washing.During the evening she complained a little of pains in her side and around her head but they were not severe and little was thought of it.
She was taken sick to her stomach during the night and Mr. Helebrant suggested that he call a doctor but she said she would be all right. This morning he arose quietly and left her supposedly sleeping. At 9:30 he went upstairs to see how she was and found her dead. She had been dead at least two hours, a physician said.
Lillian Simpson was born in Austin August 3, 1863.Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Simpson, at that time resided in the Rev. Gorney house in the south end of the village. The following summer they moved into their new home, 708 Lansing Avenue. The old landmark is still standing.
Her father was drowned June 26, 1869 while bathing in the Cedar River just below the home. This was a terrible blow to the family.
On January 3, 1884 she was married to P.W. Helebrant and they made their home on a farm east of Ramsey until 1901 when they moved to their present location, 404 Courtland Avenue. Two children were born to them, Frank, of this city, and a daughter who died in infancy.
She is survived by her husband, her son, Frank, one brother, William Simpson, two sisters, Mrs. Jessie S. Griffith and Mrs. Jennie Eide, three half brothers, Frank B. Rayman, Dr. Fred L. Rayman, Dr. Fay W. Rayman, and two grandchildren, Bernard Joseph and John Robert Helebrant.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence and at 2:15 from the Episcopal Church with Rev. G.H. TenBroeck officiating.Interment will be made in Oakwood Cemetery.
