Anthony Roth, b. c1725. d. 1785, Manchester Township, York County, Pennsylvania. He wrote his will on 29 Dec 1784 and it was proved 8 Feb 1785. He named his wife and children in his will. He was married to Magdalena. His listed his 4 oldest children as Henry, John, Franey Prinimen and Ann Strickler. He named his youngest children as Christian, Anthony, Magdalena Culp, Frederick and Elisabeth. The executors of his will were Christy Leib and John Rhode. He ordered in his will to sell his plantation and all buildings at a public sale. He bought land in Manchester Township with Phillip Ettinger on 11 Jun 1766 from James Welsh.7 The land at that time was in possession of Aaron Brook. He was taxed at Manchester Township in the 1760s. In 1780 at Manchester Township, Anthony Roth was taxed on 116 acres next to Henry Roth and John Roth who owned no land. He arrived in Philadelphia on 4 Oct 1752 on the ship Neptune. His widow Magdalena (b. c1731) died at Rockingham County, Virginia on 19 Jul 1799. Magdalena may have been Anthonys second wife who he married about 1752. Magdalena was probably the daughter of Hans Burkholder and Anna Herr of Conestoga Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Anthony was probably converted to the Mennonite faith after his arrival in Pennsylvania.
1. Henry Rhodes, b. 1748. d. 1827, Rockingham County, Virginia. He married Elizabeth Brenneman (1758-1835), daughter of Melchior Brenneman and Anna Good of Conestoga Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was taxed at Manchester Township in 1780 and 1782 with no land next to his father and brother John. He was
not taxed at Manchester Township in 1788. He bought land in Rockingham County, Virginia on 22 Mar 1784. He signed a Mennonite petition at Rockingham County in 1784 and 1785. He was a Mennonite minister. He signed his name Heinrich Roth on his will.
2. Ann Roth, b. c1753. d. 1833, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. She married Henry Strickler (1750-1816) by 1784. They lived at Antrim Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
3. Franey Roth, b. c1755. She married David Brenneman by 1784. They went to Fayette County, Pennsylvania from Rockingham County, Virginia.
4. John Rode, b. 4 Nov 1756. d. 14 Mar 1835, Manchester Township, York County. He married Catherine Leib (15 Aug 1756-7 Jun 1832). He was taxed at Manchester Township in 1780 with no land next to his father and brother Henry. He was taxed at Manchester Township in 1788 with 200 acres. He lived at Manchester Township in the 1790 census (1-7-2-) as John Roth. He was living at Manchester Township in the 1800 census (23301-20100) as John Rhode. He owned land adjacent to Adam Shank in Manchester Township, York County in 1786. He was buried at the Mennonite cemetery in Manchester Township. The administrators of his estate on 3 Nov 1835 were Christian Snyder and John Brillhart.
