| The great conundrum for the Hesch family is "WHO was Pauls' father?"|
One family story is that Paul (1848-1900) came here from Austria in an apple barrel to avoid conscription.Did his parents come over at the same time?No one could stay trapped in a barrel for a 6-8 week voyage, so he'd have to have confederates onboard...
and were they really from Austria, or Bohemia, or Czechoslovakia?(Paul claimed all three on various censuses).
Paul's death certificate says only JOHN in the space provided for FATHER.He died in 1900, and death certificates were just beginning to be required then, so his is rudimentary.
Right now, in July of 2008, we think they came from a German town in Bohemia called Niedermuhl, or the town a mile away called Oberschlagles...at least, from that area.
This tree will try to answer these and other questions, and be a record of our research and discoveries!
WE FOUND PAUL HESCH AND HIS PARENTS IN OBERSCHLAGLES, BOHEMIA!!
