Research, compiling and writing narratives on my many ancestral family lines has been a collaborative effort of several related family members - one doesn't do this alone and I have received LOTS of help. I am happy to share my found information, however, I do ask that you - PLEASE - before you 'copy and paste,' any information, PLEASE ASK ME prior to doing so for whatever purpose.I want to know who is interested and what purpose you will be using this information as some information IS proprietary and copyrighted information - with all that implies.USE EXTREME CAUTION with what I have on this page. I do make unintentional mistakes.Be aware that all information on this page is as of the date shown. My Paternal Families: HINTON /HENTON - we have the direct descendant family from George Henton and Percis Boone and are about to prove, through DNA testing with our 'jump across the pond' - at least we are hopeful...check back with me! As this venue will soon be 'frozen' by Ancestry.com, ask me if you would like a .pdf I am compiling on this family - it is in DRAFT form at present. Collateral families to Hinton/Henton are these families: YARNALL; BRANNER; SPOTTS/SPATZ; SISK; even Boone with the most recent connection in Kentucky). I would appreciate any RECORD for PROOF of George Henton's parentage and origin. Especially, I THANK my cousin, Ralph Hinton for ALL his help over the years and my sister, Barbara for her encouragement and support. COBB /COBBS and MARBLE and LATHROP. We now add Barr/Bär/Bear in Indiana; Thank you cousins: Kathy, Carol and Jean.We now know who our John Cobb's parents are: William Cobb and Hester Bear. The stories of John's sisters, Mary and Hester are being compiled. We continue to search for John Cobb's two other siblings, George and an unknown sister. DEMING/DEMMING/DAMON; Farra/Farrow; A BIG Thank you to Phil and Mary Deming; together, In 2011 we visited Esther (Deming) Cobb's birth place in Hunter, Belmont County, Ohio.We are still looking for Mary (Farra) Deming's grave. We are compiling records/certificates to apply to 'First Families of Ohio' with Samuel Farra as our earliest family in Ohio. ENDERLIN/GUMBERT;Thank you Dean, HansJoerg Enderlin, Damaris, Botho and Sieglinde Jenne, and our distant cousin David Schmidt. Also to all our family in Baden/Germany and a super Thanks to Angelica in Boetzingen, Baden. ASK ME about the biographical sketch I have started about Wilhelm Enderlin and Maria Magdalena (Gumbert) Enderlin with their emmigration from Baden in 1885. I also have family photos -YEAH- of Boetzingen, thanks to our Jenne family. ~*~*~ My maternal side of the family is beginning to fall into place after trying to glean information from Granny who would respond to my questions with: "Children should be seen and not heard." RUSH; SKINNER; LYES; GIBBS; GRIST; PEACOCK - my direct maternal line. Thank you to my Cousins in the UK: Pauline Whatley in West Midlands, Malcolm Fish in Liverpool and Ken Self in Emerald, Australia. FLOOD: (family lore says we originated in Ireland to) New Hampshire to Connecticut to California; GORDON; RICH; ARNOLD; Thank you Gail (our mutual Flood line) and all the CT volunteers who helped with information on these families: Librarians sent information and Harvey Hilton sent photos and information - this family has been a brick wall for many years. This web page should be considered **UNDER CONSTRUCTION** so - should you decide to use the information found here - it must be with the usual caution - ASK ME BEFORE YOU COPY AND PASTE - I DO HAVE NEWLY FOUND INFORMATION AND CAN SHARE CITATIONS AND SOURCES - then, VERIFY THE INFORMATION YOURSELF! I have researched and compiled this information as accurately and carefully as possible - however - I do make mistakes and errors do pop up.There is always new information to be found that can, should AND WILL change what I have posted

- Newspaper photo of Ida O'Brien Soderholm (111 KB)
Ida O'Brien Soderholm was the niece of George W. Hinton. This photo was printed in the LAKE CITY TIMES, reprinted from the Denver Post, Thursday, April 15, 1909, page 2.LAKE CITY HAS ONLY WOMAN ALDERMAN IN THE UNITED STATES.Under the above heading, accompanied by a picture of herself, the DENVER POST of April 9 has the following to say about our woman alderman:"Mrs. E. W. Soderholm of Lake City is the only 'woman alderman' in the United States. She was elected a member of the board of aldermen at last Tuesday's election, receiving more votes than any one on the ticket except John F. Maurer, the nominee for mayor. She is a self-made woman in every sense of the term. She has been in the mercantile business in this city twelve years and the large trade she enjoys is proof of her popularity and business ability. Her maiden name was the unmistakably Irish one of O'Brien. She lived seven years in Clear Creek county, part of the time at Georgetown and attended school at Lawson. The people of Lake City, who have known her all these years, do not consider the election of a woman of Mrs. Soderholm's well known ability and independence of thought and action an experiment in any sense of the word, with all her independence and push, she is in every way a very womanly woman, an optimist whose ready sympathy and advice have served as the needed tonic to many a disheartened being.Combined with these excellent qualities is the natural wit of the Irish race from which she comes." - George William Hinton - my great grandfather (17 KB)
