Notes for Elias Butler:
Amoung the early settlers of Carroll County, Tennesse (1825-1828) was Elias Butler, who according to vouchers in the Comptroller's office of North Carolina, Box B-1 certificate no 1,5749, served in the Revolutionary War in the Continental Line of North Carolina from the Salisbury District, as did James and Christopher Butler who may have been his brothers. It is not known whether he served sufficiently long to have received a land grant for his services, but he was not pensioned by the Federal Government. On the move to Tennessee from Montgomery Conty, North Carolina where he had resided since 1787, Elias Butler and wife Sarah were accompanied by some of their childer who were John, JamesM, Elias, Joshua, Neely, Mary (wife of Reuben Queen, Judah (wife of John Boyd, Elizabeth McAuley, and Sarah (wife of Thomas Boyd), and the threee daughters of deceasedson Reuben and his wfie Susan who in tTennessee married William Morris.
