Jeriah, oldest son of Jacob and Nancy (Bachus) Swiger, was born, June 4, 1799, in Eagle district, Harrison county, Va.; m., April 17, 1817, Ruth Glaspell Wilson. Her mother was a Pennsylvanian whose father was a red headed Irishman, born in Ireland. Jeriah was a farmer, having acquired nearly two thousand acres of land surrounding the head waters of Lambert's Run, where he lived and died. Like his grandfather, William, he owned and operated a large distillery, distilling both brandy and whiskey. His wife was born June 6, 1804, in Pennsylvania, and died, March 5, 1882. He lived to the advanced age of 81 years, and died in the year 1880.

Notes for JOHN SWIGER:
He was a farmer, and first settled on a farm on Little Tenmile Creek, now owned by Orlando Swiger; was a very large man, as were all of his children. He and wife died, where they had lived all their life, 1870 and Sept. 1889, respectively.

| Notes for GEORGE W. SWIGER: George W. Swiger became intoxicated, met one Steigler on the hill between Laurel and Caldwell Run, near Brown, Harrison county; engaged him in a quarrel and murdered him; for which he was tried and convicted before a court in Harrison county and sentenced to the state penitentiary at Richmond. When the prisoners in the Southern prison were freed, at the beginning of the War, he was enlisted in the Southern Army, and it is said that when he and several other former prisoners endeavored to desert the army and escape, they were shot. |
