William Lackey, Sr. (b. 1746, d. May 27, 1820)William Lackey, Sr. (son of John William Lackey and Elizabeth ________) was born 1746 in Antrim County, Ireland, and died May 27, 1820 in Iredell County, North Carolina.He married Agnes "Nancy" Stevenson on November 14, 1775 in Rowan County, North Carolina, daughter of James Stevenson and Sarah Kelly.

*From Kenneth Lakey:"William died the same year his will was drawn, sometime after May 27, 1820.He and Agnes were married Nov. 14, 1775 with William Stevenson as bondsman, and Ad. Osburn as witness (letters from Rowan Public Library and Register of Deeds, Salisbury).
*William Lackey Will (from Kenneth Lakey):"In the name of God, Amen, I, William Lackey being weak in body but perfect in mind and memory (blessed be God), calling to mind the mortality of all men, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form, that is to say:
1st.I will that my body be buried in a decent manner and that my funeral charges together with all my just debts be paid out of my estate.
2nd. I will that my beloved wife Nancy Lackey, during her life have 50 acres of land including the dwelling house in which I now live and my household furniture and likewise my stock of all kinds, also Negro woman by the name of Neely with her four children Tamer, Stephen, Simon, and Israel.
3rd. I give and bequeath unto my son William Lackey 70 acres of land lying on the waters of South Yadkin River.
4th. I give and bequeath to my son James Lackey 75 acres acres of land joining my son William on the same waters.
5th. I give and bequeath unto my son Moses Lackey 50 acres of land lying on the South Yadkin River, more or less.
6th. I give and bequeath to my son Alexander Lackey 50 acres of land joining my plantation where I now live.
7th. I give and bequeath to my son Amos Lackey 50 acres of land more or less joining my plantation where I now live.
8th. I will and bequeath also after my wife's decease the balance of land to be equally divided between my three sons George Lackey, David Lackey, and Eneas Lackey.
9th. I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Rice, wife of Stephen Rice, the sum of 5 pounds and I bequeath to my daughter Martha Thompson, wife of James Thompson, the sum of 5 pounds.
10th. I will that my personal estate after satisfying the bequeath herein before remain in the possession of my beloved wife Nancy Lackey during her natural life for her decent and comfortable support.
11th. I will and order that at the death of Nancy, all my estate and personal property shall be equally divided between my two sons George Lackey and David Lackey, except a Negro woman named Nelly and her children......(Nancy was to have the privilege of disposing of her slaves as she pleased).
