John Bennett, the father of Robert, is the oldest known Bennett of this line.Additional source:The Bennett Family of Sussex Co, Deleware
!Joyce Slaton of Prodigy PBBW67c noted that her husband's mother descends from this line and gives Robert's death as 1558, Wiveliscombe.
!Boddie in his book, "Seventeenth Century Isle of Virginia" notes on p 257 the following: "Robert Bennett, tanner of Wivelscombe, was the father of the three Bennett brothers who establaished "Bennett's Plantation" in Isle of
Wight. It is very probable that John Bennett, tanner, of the same place and his wife Margery (buried 3 Dec 1564) were the parents of Robert, for Robert names his first daughter "Margery" and his first son "John".
