JOHN WEBB, LAST WILL & TESTAMENT
In The Name of God Amen.
I John Webb of the County of Weakley and State of Tennessee being very sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory.thanks, be given to almighty God, calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that, it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament.This is to say first and principally I recommend my soul to and into the hand of Almighty God.who gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a dicent Christian Burial at the discretion of my executors to be here after names, and as teaching such worldly estate where with it has pleased God to bestow upon my in this world.
I give devise and dispose of the same in following manner and form.
First - that all my just debts be paid togeather with all my funeral charges.
Item First)I give and bequeath to my Son Amasa Webb one negro boy named Amason, one horse, one bed & furniture and one cow which he has now in possession.
Item Second)I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Davis one negro girl named Lucitte and the occupant where they now live; and feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf which they have in possession.
Item Third)I give and bequeath to my Son John Webb my negroe boy Baxter and a grey filly to be and remain his for ever, but Baxter being sick, should he die with the present disease, then my sain Son John is to have my negro girl Caroline, but if said negro boy should recover he is not to have the last mentioned negro girl Caroline.
Item Fourth)I give unto my bloved Nancy Webb all my remaining property real personally and pereshable during her natural Life or widowhood, but at death the then remaining to be equally divided amongt my six youngest children, to wit, Jesse, Sarrah, Holland, Elizabeth, George and Bushrod Webb.
I likewise constitute and appoint my wife Nancy Webb and my Son Amasa Webb executors of my last will and testament hereby revoking disannulling and making void all my former wills testament or Executors here to fore made given, granted, appointed constituted or ordained ratefying and confirming this and this only to be my last will and Testament.In witness where of I have here unto set my hand an dseal this the eleventh day of January in the year of our Lord 1831.
