Obit.-Mrs. Elma J. Stanley, 91 years old, died at 3 p.m. Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mariana Engle, in Bloomingsport.Surviving are another daughter, Mrs. Guy Coffin of Lynn; one brother, Albert Jessup of Spiceland; three sons, Levi of near Lynn, Isaac of Ekalaka, Mont. and Clinton F. of Los Angeles; 19 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Gulielma was described as a quiet spoken, old fashioned Quaker who used "thee" and "thou" instead of the modern words we use today.

Stanley--On March 28, 1940 at the home of her daughter, Marianna Engle, in Bloomingport, Indiana, Gulielma J. Stanley at the age of 91 years.Born in Richmond, Indiana, the daughter of Levi and Mary Jessup, she obtained her education in the Richmond schools and in Earlham Boarding School, as it was then named.She was a birthright member of Whitewater Meeting, her father being a Friends minister.In 1878 she was married to Isaac N. Stanley and moved from Richmond to Bloomingport.The couple had four sons and two daughters, five of the children surviving her.Isaac Stanley preceded her in 1905.At the time of her death and for long years before, she served as an elder.She was a woman of strong convictions, to which she had the courage to be true.Among her surviving children is Isaac N. Stanley, a minister at Ekalaka, Montana.One brother also survives her.
