Robert "Robbie" Cecil Huston of 311 Adams Ave. died Saturday morning when flames gutted his small. one story frame house.Authorities indicated smoke inhalation killed the 23 year-old-man.
Preliminary investigation of the blaze traced its origin to curtains ignited by a heater according to the fire department report.
Kenny Floyd told police he was awakened by the fire and tried to rouse his roommate, but smoke forced him to flee the house.Huston was found in his bed, which occupied the right front corner room of the house.
Services were held Monday in Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home, with J. Lowell Knupp and Bobby Colvert officiating.Burial was in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The Florence, Ala., native was a machine operator for Tennessee Knitting Mills.
Survivors include his father, Cecil Huston of Mt. Pleasant; his mother, Mrs. Raymogene Huston of Houston, Texas; a sister, Mr. Jeanne Lawrence of Ocean Springs, Miss.; and a grandmother, Mrs. Maxine Birdyshaw of Tuscumbia, Ala.
