Kendall had no son that lived to adult age, and his name has long since disappeared from our municipal record; yet perhaps there is no one of the first settlers that can be pointed out, whose blood, through his eight daughters diverging, has come down to us through so many families, and still flows in the veins of so many of the present population of the town.

1 John Hunting, the first of this family in America, was born in England in the year 1597, married Hester Seaborne, who was a second cousin of John Rogers, about 1617, and came to Dedham, Mass., in the spring of 1638. Admitted a freeman March 13, 1639, was one of the founders of the church at Dedham, and its first ruling elder. Previous to his coming to this country he was a "ruling elder," and his living was in the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, England. The first authentic record we have of him, is on the Dedham Register, under date of August 28, 1638, where he "entertayned to purchase John Boledge's lot." After this date, we find, by the church records, he takes an active part in religious affairs. He died April 12, 1689. Buried at Dedham.

1. JOHN HUNTING, born 1597 in England; died Apr. 12, 1689, buried at Dedham, Mass.; probably son of William and Margaret Hunting, in England; married Hester Seaborne, about 1617 in England. She died June 3, 1676. She was a second cousin of John Rogers. The first of this family in America, came to Dedham, Mass., in the spring of 1638.
