This site is dedicated to my family. My maternal surnames include Bisch, Thornton, Tatem (Tatum), Wilson, Harris, Murphy, St. Vrain, De Lassus, Gregoire, Jones, Bayles, Asbridge, Roberts, Laporte, Hubardeau, Ragsdale, and others. The primary location of my ancestors since the late 1800's is Bonne Terre, St. Francois County, Missouri. The Bisch's, originally from Germany, settled in Ste. Genevieve and Valles Mines, Missouri coming from Pennsylvania. The St. Vrain's and Gregoire's came from France and eventually settled in Ste. Genevieve. My maternal direct and indirect connections include some famous and semi-famous historical names - Ceran, Marcellin, and Felix St. Vrain, Don Carlos Delassus, Pierre Derbigny, Abbe Henri Gregoire, Gen. George Wallace Jones and Rev. William Murphy.Very (and I do many VERY) distant links include Auguste Chouteau, founder of St. Louis and President George W. Bush. While not a direct line, these links are interesting from a geographical and historical point of view. My paternal surnames include Kelly, Briedwell, Burt, Wood (Atwood), Wilcox, Smiley, Martin, Sigler, Winslow, Morton, Jenny, Harman, Kingsley, and Carpenter. My Kelly line came from County Cork, Ireland to Lansing, Michigan, then on to Kansas and eventually to Oklahoma. My Wood line came originally from England. George Morton, my paternal 10th great-grandfather, a Pilgrim Father of New England was the financial agent of the Pilgrims and purchased the "Mayflower."However, George Morton did not sail on the "Mayflower." He arrived in the new world in 1623 aboard the "Anne." All male passengers who arrived in New England from 1620 until May 1630 who had an affiliation with the Pilgrim Church were considered Pilgrim Fathers of New England. So I guess all this history makes me a true American.A little of this and a little of that all mixed together in the melting pot that made this great country what it is today.
