William R. Stevenson (son of Sarah F. Stevenson)151, 152, 153 was born 1856 in NJ, and died 29 Nov 1932 in Dilts Corner, Delaware Twp., Hunterdon Co. NJ.He married Georgianna Cole on 25 Jan 1882 in M. E. Parsonage, Lambertville, NJ, daughter of Jacob Cole and Catharine Allegar.
Notes for William R. Stevenson:William was with his mother Sarah, her husband John Gutchel and 7 month old brother Ralph Gutchel in the 1860 Census for W. A. Twp., Hunterdon Co.
could not find him in 1870 when he would have been 14. His mother was by then married to Peter Cray and living in Passaic and had with her Ralph Gutchel and John Cray, her son by Peter.
by 1880 William was living with his uncle Theodore Stevenson in Delaware Twp., Hunterdon Co. and Theodore's niece Allie age 20.
Letter re: Stevensons held a picnic for all employees of the Delaware Atlantic Tel & Tel co. Letter states that it was a picnic to be remembered until the end of their days...rarely recorded that subscribers become so attached to telephone workmen that they invite them to partake of an enormous chicken dinner and games.A telephone line was run in Hunterdon County in the Spring of 1914 and several workmen boarded at the Stevenson home.

No human, pauper or prince left their door empty handed and no stranger turned away from a night's lodging. If the old grape vine needed trimming, or the kitchen chimney developed a blaze, or the life of a cow was in danger from an apple fast in her gullet, the one you needed was Roly Stevenson who was "Farm Agent" in the lower part of the county.
William R. Stevenson died at his home following a lingering illness one year after celebrating with his wife their 50th Anniversary
