Edward's birth is estimated from a record that says he was aged 19 on 8/1/1671.
In the year 1675 he was assessed in the taxables of Newtown with 30 acres of land, In the next census he had enlarged his lot to 40 acres and had 1 horse, 3 oxen, 6 cows, 1 3 year old and 1 2 year old and 1 1 year old calves, 20 sheep and 1 swine.
in 1684 Edward and his brother Thomas Stevenson, together with others, were appointed commissioners to look out for a place of settlement next to the Dutch.
June 27, 1691 Edward and Thomas were granted land on Ludovok Creek for building of a Fulling Mill. Said to be the first mill of its kind on LI and was operated by the 2 families for 20 years.

His death is recorded in the Flushing LI "Friend's Records" which proves him to be a member of the sect of Quakers.
