Edward Stevenson (b. Abt. 1620, d. Bef. 10 Jul 1662)
Notes for Edward Stevenson:
Edward Stevenson, purported father of Abigail was married before 1640 to an Ann, who later married a Graves and in her Will she left her clothes to daughters Elizabeth Everitt and Abigail Denton and family Bible to Thomas Stevenson, who she calls cousin.
He was one of the early settlers of Newtown, Queens, NY around the same time as our Thomas.
He died before 7/10/1662 in Newtown, Queens County, LI NY when the "widow of Edward Stevenson" signed the agreement made by the citizens of Newtown to pay rent to the Dutch Director-General.
Other children of this Edward besides Abigail was Jonathan and Elizabeth.
This Edward could very well have been the brother of the 1st Thomas Stevenson, the emigrant. "The Fields of Flushing, LI" (1959) calls Thomas and Edward Stevenson brothers, but gives no proof; John Stevenson's 1902 Stevenson genealogy calls Edward Stevenson of Newtown, LI "a near relative of Thomas Stevenson of the same place".
