Notes for Gabrielle Josephine LeDieu:After her first husband died she married Henry Lecocq. She came to US with Henry, mother and brothers and two other French miningfamilies from the Valincumine (SP?) area of France.[RonDieu.FTW]
Gabrielle lived in Coos Bay, Oregon through much of her adult life.Many of the California family members would stay with her when they travelled to Oregon.When all of the families left Coos Bay shortly after the turn of the century, Gabrielle and her family stayed in Oregon.
Gabrielle was devastated when her two children, Helen and George, drowned in the slough near the home of her brother Albert.It occurred on the day that Albert and Augustine moved into their new home.Her mother, Appoline, came to Oregon to help Gabrielle survive the grief.There was worry that Gabrielle would not survive the trauma because of her heart.Appoline remained in Coos Bay for the remainder of her life.

MRS. LECOCQ DIES THURSDAY NIGHT
Mrs. Gabrielle Lecocq, Coos Bay, died at her home Thursday night.She was born February 12, 1862, in France and come to this country 69 years ago.She had lived on Coos Bay 53 years.Her husband, Henry Lecocq, died in 1930.
Survivors include a son, Henry Lecocq, Coos Bay; five daughters, Mrs. Camille Bodhaine, Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Clothilde VanMarter, Berkeley, California; Mrs. Denise Blakeley, Tenino, Washington; Mrs. Henrietta Valentine, Chehalis, Washington, and Mrs. Marguerite Gaffney, Albany, California;a grandson, Fred Percy, Sacramento, California, who was reared by Mrs. Lecocq, and a brother, Albert Dieu, Sr., Englewood.
Funeral services are pending at the Mills Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Mrs. Gabrielle Lecocq, 88, long-time resident of Coos Bay, will be held at 9 A.M. Monday at St. Monica's Catholic Church, conducted by the Very Rev. John M. Green.Recitation of the Rosary is scheduled for 7:30 P.M. Sunday at the Mills Funeral home.
