Grandpa was probably one of the most important people in my life.When I was ten, I lived with he and grandma for two years with my brother and mother.Over the next five years, I spent at least one day a week there.Grandpa was full of life and wonderful stories.He was raised by his mother, aunt, grandmother, and chinese cooks at his grandmother's hotel in Reedley.He graduated from Reedley High School and University of California at Berkeley.He was serious, but quick to laugh.He built two greenhouses in his backyard (taking over more space than the house itself) to grow orchids (Cattelias).His flowers were known around the world in Orchid circles.He loved fishing, scotch, and family.He used to make wonderful gin-fizzes...He got into photography as a side to the orchids (primarily to take pictures of them).He made an orchid that he named after me: it was deep maroon... sooo pretty.He was the sweetest man I've ever known, and I've missed him.
