Notes for Reverend David B Salter:
The Reverend David was very close to the author's family, especially the Russell family, and the family of William La Tourette as shown later. He transferred many deeds to John V. Russell, the brother of Mary Anna Russell, the wife of William La Tourette in Jersey City.In 1818 he lived in that part of Monmouth county, New Jersey, which is now called Ocean county, and he still lived in this area in 1878.Upon his first wife's death he remarried a second time to a daughter of Sylvester Hutchingson of Hightstown, New Jersey.Sylvester Hutchingson, with his brother Robert Hutchingson were preachers in New jersey.On 02 July, 1817 David B. Salter received property from Paul La Tourette senior, of Paulus Hook.This was his grandfather from North field, Staten Island. In the 1860 Bergen Township census he was found on page 818 with his wife Harriet.William Latourette, aged 81, a sailor was living with him at this time, and a boy of 1 year named Joseph Salter was also living with him. In the 1860 census he was worth 50 thousand dollars, and his personal worth was an additional 10 thousand.The Reverend signed William La Tourette's request for a pension, for serving in the war of 1812 (See William La Tourette below).William lived with the Reverend in Jersey City in 1870.David first worked also as a farmer,and he was found in the 1850 Bergen Township, Hudson county, census on page 260, living next to Susan Salter, Mary Decker, and William Latourette.David was found in the 1840 Bergen census living in Bergen Township, on page 227, next to Cornelius Van Buskirk, and John W. Russell.Besides the boys listed as sons, there was living in his household a man born between 1780-1790, a girl born between 1800-1810, and his mother Susanna.He was found in the 1880 census living in the 3rd ward, Bayonne, Hudson county, New Jersey, being 82 years old (FHL 1254786, p. 62D).

She was the cousin to the Honorable Joel Parker of New Jersey.

He was at one time the Sheriff of jersey City.He was found in the Jersey City census in 1840, on page 182.

Notes for John Henry La Tourette:
He was a sea captain in Bergen Point, New Jersey. In the 1840 census he was living in Bergen Township, Hudson county, on page 228.In 1850 we find him in the Bergen Township census, Hudson county, New Jersey, on page 265, and he was listed as a Steamboat Captain.In the 1860 census he was now living in Sullivan county, the town of Thompson, page 56, and he now worked as a carpenter. Living with him was a woman named Margaret Knowles, of the West Indies, aged 81, whose relationship is not known.
