Virgil died at home from natural decline of his body.His death wasattended by his wife of 53 years, Clara Holman Timmons, his two sons -Lonnell Ray Timmons and Alton Fred Timmons, three daughters - PatriciaLandrum, Etta Bishop and Wanda Buentello; grandsons - Jory Reed andLonnell Ray Timmons Jr; granddaughters - Jamie Belz , Jeana Bishop andKayla Timmons; and brother-in-law M C Holman.Virgil was brought homefrom the hospital on Saturday, January 16 after doctors had advisedthere was nothing more they could do to deterred death other thanusing life support and feeding tubes.The family consensus was thatsuch sustaining would not have been Virgil's wish.His death vigilbegan at 1:00 am on Monday, January 18 and he went home to his God at4:29 PM the same day.
Virgil was buried on his natural birthday, January 21, 1999 at SmithCemetery in Bergheim, Texas.Officiating the service was his twograndsons - Andrew Graham (son of Doylean Johnson), a Baptist ministerfrom Archer City, Texas and Thearon Landrum (son of Patricia Landrum),a Baptist music minister from Bradenton, Florida.Six other grandsonsserved as pall bearers - Raeford Landrum, Jeremy Reed, Jory Reed,Ethan Timmons, Gregory Graham and Lonnell Ray Timmons, Jr.
Virgil was ordained as a Pentecostal Ministor by Fred H. Price at thePentecostal Church in Ingram, Texas.After proving his ability underthe tutelage of Rev. Price he was accorded his permanent ministerslicense through the Alamo Revival Center in San Antonio, Texas.
