I am Meredith Paul Leadingham, born and raised in Eastern, Kentucky. My Leadingham and allied ancestors were born, lived and raised their families in Pike, Floyd, Boyd, Lawrence, Carter and Greenup Counties of Eastern, Kentucky.
All the Leadingham surnames I have found, so for, can be traced back to my Great-Great-Grand parents, Peter and Sarah "Sally" Hamilton Leadenham/Leadingham, and their nine children. Peter and Sarah lived on Leadingham Branch, Little Fork Creek, Carter County,Kentucky.
I have found Ledenham, Leadenham, Ledingham, and Lednum surnames in Maryland as early as 1650, and South Carolina as early as 1764.

Adkins home place located on Shanty Branch, Williams Creek, Carter County, KY. The house was built by Wiser Adkins in 1897, out of one popular tree that grew in pickle hallow. The tree was seven feet in diameter at the base, and over two hundred feet tall. The only material that was purchased were the windows, nails and two doors. Belva Adkins Leadingham was born in this house in 1907. The house was torn down in 1997.
