From the bayous and swamps of southeastern Louisiana, to the far reaches of England, France, Ireland, Germany and Acadiana, I am diligently searching for the ancestors and descendants of: Billiu, Cross, Dupre, French, Gladish, Himel, LaBruyere, Lyon/Lyons, Luquet, Rodrigue, Sutherland, Thibodeaux, Weber, Witham, and many more ... with a particular interest in Cajun Genealogy. I belong to the 31st generation of Lyons descended from Roger de Leonne, the first known of our esteemed line. I belong to the 12th generation of Lyon/Lyons in America, descended from William Lyon, "The Immigrant", who came to Massachusetts from Harrow, England in 1635. And I belong to the 5th generation of Lyons in Louisiana, descended from Joseph Lucius Cincinatus Pitt Lyon, who came south from Illinois in 1849. I picked up the torch of family research left to me by my beloved grandmother, Evelyn Himel Cross French (July 16, 1906 in New Orleans, La. -- September 8, 1989 in Houma, La.), who spent many of her years searching for her Himel and Cross relatives without benefit of computers or the Internet. This was her legacy. Now, it is mine. Updates, corrections and additions are gladly accepted and I am happy to share information.
