Henry Waggoner resided in Russell County, Virginia.It is unknown if he was born in Virginia or was possibly an immigrant.
Records of Dunmore's War in 1774 lists Waggoner, Henry (age 39) of Fincastle County, Virginia Company: Capt. Walter Crockett. Battle of Point Pleasant 1774- Henry Waggoner, Sr. (age 39) and Henry Waggoner, Jr. (age 14) in Robert Doak’s Company of Militia.Other names of interest in same company: John Nuland, Martin Staily, George, Andrew & Christly Vaut (Vaught), John & Barnet Messersmith, Christly Weaver.
Feb. 6, 1775 Henry Waggoner, Sr. obtained a survey under the Loyal Company for 476 acres in Wythe Co. Virginia.
1784 State of North Carolina #1222 Henry Waggoner is granted 500 acres on the south side of Holston River. Henry Waggoner for the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted paid into our treasury by Henry Waggoner have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the said Henry Wagoner a tract of land containing five hundred acres alying and being in out County of Sullivan on the South side of the Holston River joining Chrisley Weaver and John Scott including the land said Henry Wagoner now lives on.........

Henry Waggoner, Sr. died, at age 74, in Russell Co., Virginia in about 1809. Henry Sr was probably living with one of his children, possibly a married daughter.
Sept. 8, 1809Stealey vs. Waggoner-O.S. 192; N.S.68- In 1772 John Gillihan made a settlement in now County of Wythe and sold to Henry Waggoner, who on 6th February, 1775, obtained a survey under the Loyal Company for 476 acres and then sold to Jacob Hetrick, who sold to orator, Martin Stealey, before 12th September 1782, and on that date Martin obtained a certificate from the Commissioners.In 1798, by some mistake, the grant issued to Henry Waggoner, who is now dead, leaving heirs and representatives, viz: Henry, Michael, Jacob, John, Lewis, Lindsay, Cathrine, Barbara, Margaret, Susannah Waggoner, Henry, Lavina, William, Jerry, James, Sally, Cathrine and Betsey Newland.Spa. 8th September, 1809.All defendants (except James and Betsey Newland?) are non residents. 8th Sept.
